The Challenge

A software provider relied on a Windows Forms application that no longer met the needs of its users or the business. The outdated interface, lack of web capabilities, and dependence on legacy WCF services created usability, scalability, and integration bottlenecks with modern systems. Additionally, the internal team had limited web development experience, complicating efforts to modernise the platform.

The Role

As the lead consultant, I designed and implemented a solution to transition the legacy system into a responsive, web-based platform while upskilling the team and ensuring business continuity.

The Solution

The Results

  • Modernised User Experience: A sleek, responsive web application replaced the outdated Windows Forms interface, significantly improving usability and accessibility.

  • Stronger Integration: RESTful APIs enabled seamless connections with third-party tools and external systems, unlocking new possibilities for collaboration and automation.

  • Future-Ready Platform: The modular design provided a scalable foundation, supporting future growth and reducing technical debt.

  • Increased Team Capability: Upskilled the internal team, equipping them to confidently manage and extend the system independently.

Why It Matters

This project transformed a legacy system and empowered the client's team to adopt modern practices, ensuring sustainability and continued innovation. Focusing on a tailored, incremental approach, I delivered a solution that balanced immediate business needs with long-term strategic goals.
